Combining light weight and an exceptional barrel system
Starting at just 5.8 lbs, the Backcountry 2.0 Carbon owes much of its light weight to the new Peak 44™ Blacktooth™ stock. This is the lightest production carbon fiber stock on the market.
Aiding in both weight and recoil reduction is the second generation 3DHEX® recoil pad. This is the first production 3D printed pad the firearms world has seen. Hidden inside the pad are a series of interlocking voids that progressively collapse during recoil. This expands the time component of the recoil impulse and deadens the sharp kick of magnum chamberings.
More pronounced spiral fluting on the bolt body not only trims a little weight, it also reduces bearing surface within the action and results in even smoother function. The newly-threaded bolt handle is equipped with a lightweight aluminum extended and skeletonized knob.
Fit with a titanium version of Weatherby’s highly-effective Accubrake® ST, this brake blends to match the profile of the #4 carbon fiber barrel. With 30 symmetrically-spaced ports that help harness the recoil, it tames even magnum chamberings and makes them pleasant to shoot.
With exposed carbon fiber on both the barrel and the stock, all metal on the action and barrel is sealed away behind a ceramic Cerakote® shell in Patriot Brown. The stock carries a complementary brown and green pattern to help break up the gun’s lines in the field.
Weatherby Mark V Backcountry 2.0 Carbon Features:
- Sub MOA Accuracy: All Mark V rifles have a guarantee to shoot a 3-shot group of .99″ or less at 100yards (SUB-MOA) from a cold barrel with premium ammunition within two years of purchase date.
- TriggerTech Trigger: TriggerTech’s Trigger provides true creep break, extremely short over-travel, and is externally adjustable (down to 2.5lbs). Precision cut stainless steal components ensure consistent trigger pulls from shot to shot. This creates a safe, reliable, and corrosion resistant package.
- Accubrake ST: By adding an Accubrake St you will significantly reduce felt recoil up to 53%. Available in four different barrel diameters, with thread protector, for a perfect brake-to-barrel contour.
- 54 Degree Bolt: The shortest in the industry (as compared to a typical 90 bolt throw). Allows for faster chambering on follow-up shots and greater bolt-to-scope clearance.
- Deep Fluted Bolt: A larger radius, deeper flute not only trims a bit more weight from the bolt body of the Mark V. This also increases the smoothness with which the bolt can cycle.
- Carbon Fibre Stock: Sourced from peak 44, this stock has the distinction of being the lightest production aerospace-grade carbon fibre stock on the market. Industry leading manufacturing techniques, patented bedding technology and the addition of the 3DHEX recoil-reducing buttpad. This means this is one of the most advanced lightweight stocks to date.
- 3DHEX Recoil Reducer: Large calibre felt recoil dissipation provided in the lightest recoil reducer available. 3DHEX is a patent pending high strength energy diffusing lattice structure designed to distribute specific directional forces and reduce muzzle lift.
- Cerakote: Cerakote is the industry leading thin-film ceramic coating. The cerakote unique formula enhances physical properties including wear, corrosion, and chemical resistance white improving impact strengths, and hardness.
- Removable Bolt Knob: Allowing for customisation and utility. The bolt handle of the Mark V is now threaded to accept a variety of bolt knobs.
