The next generation of the ground-breaking Backcountry™ family, the Weatherby Mark V Backcountry 2.0 builds on the classic steel Weatherby® Mark V® action — with some key updates. Still utilising a super thin and lightweight fluted barrel, it has contours at a #1 MOD or #2 MOD depending on the chambering.
The most noticeable upgrade is the new carbon fiber Peak 44™ Blacktooth™ stock. The lightest versions of which tip the scales at under 20 ounces.
Also grabbing the eye is the second generation 3DHEX® recoil pad, the first production 3D printed pad the firearms world has seen. Hidden inside the pad are a series of interlocking voids that progressively collapse during recoil. This expands the time component of the recoil impulse and deadens the sharp kick of magnum chamberings.
More pronounced spiral fluting on the bolt body not only trims a little weight, it also reduces bearing surface within the action and results in even smoother function. The newly-threaded bolt handle is equipped with a lightweight aluminum extended and skeletonized knob.
Fit with Weatherby’s highly-effective Accubrake® ST, this brake is blended to match the profile of the muzzle. With 30 symmetrically-spaced ports that help harness the recoil, it tames even magnum chamberings and makes them pleasant to shoot.
Starting at just 5.2 lbs and 5.4 lbs in magnum chamberings, the Backcountry 2.0 also sports an updated paint scheme. The action and barrel are protected by a Cerakote® shell of Patriot Brown. The stock carries the brown and green pattern over exposed carbon fiber.

- TriggerTech Trigger: TriggerTech’s Trigger provides true creep break, extremely short over-travel, and is externally adjustable (down to 2.5lbs). Precision cut stainless steal components ensure consistent trigger pulls from shot to shot. This creates a safe, reliable, and corrosion resistant package.
- Accubrake ST: By adding an Accubrake St you will significantly reduce felt recoil up to 53%. Available in four different barrel diameters, with thread protector, for a perfect brake-to-barrel contour.
- 54 Degree Bolt: The shortest in the industry (as compared to a typical 90 bolt throw). Allows for faster chambering on follow-up shots and greater bolt-to-scope clearance.
- Deep Fluted Bolt: A larger radius, deeper flute not only trims a bit more weight from the bolt body of the Mark V, it also increases the smoothness with which the bolt can be cycled.
- Carbon Fibre Stock: Sourced from peak 44, this stock has the distinction of being the lightest production aerospace-grade carbon fibre stock on the market. Industry leading manufacturing techniques, patented bedding technology and the addition of the 3DHEX recoil-reducing buttpad mean this is one of the most advanced lightweight stocks to date.
